If you want to know what it was all supposed to be about and aren't hooked on the juvenile aspects of the first book then you will probably end up preferring Speaker (and potentially its sequels). The Shadow series more closely resembles that book, however Game and the next three books in the Quartet are better books in my humble ass opinion. Speaker was hard to get into.
